King George’s Park has two new floodlit Padel courts so local people can enjoy the newly-popular sport.

The London Fire Brigade have been working continuously to douse the smouldering waste in a safe way to avoid additional environmental impacts.

Wandsworth Council have been monitoring the weather overnight to assess if the smoke plume has moved into other areas.  

Wandsworth Council have remained working with the London Fire Brigade to manage the fire on Weir Road and monitor air quality levels.

The London Fire Brigade are advising all residents in the Wimbledon, Earlsfield and Tooting areas to shut their windows and doors due to smoke from a fire at a recycling plant.

Wandsworth Council reminding parent-guardians to apply for means-tested free school meals to ensure extra funding for schools. Support for school uniform purchases also available. Wandsworth recently celebrated excellent exam results with children achieving grade 5-9 in English / Maths GCSE rose by 3%, to 59% in 2024. A-level, T-level, BTEC and other Level 3 results also saw improvements.

We have started work on two new projects in part of the Homes for Wandsworth programme. The programme remains on track to deliver over 1,000 new council homes. The Platt Estates and Putney Vale developments will deliver 26 new homes.

Wandsworth Council will be taking part in London Design Festival.  Battersea Design District will offer a programme of experiences throughout the area.  Wandsworth Council has commissioned six projects to take place in Battersea Design District.
